What would you do?

Probably fly into and out of Portland. Just me and Mrs.Subdude.

Been to Portland many times, but only up to Bar Harbor once.

Any must do's? Hidden Gems? We are wide open at this point.

TIA.

Camden is a nice place to spend some time. You could take the ferry to Nova Scotia. The entire coast of Maine is great and there are a lot of places to explore

Currently in Carmel.

OP - if you’ve been to Portland many times, are you looking for new places there or are you hoping to stay other places? I’ve said many times that Portland is the most underrated food city in the country (at least in my experience) so there’s no shortage of bars and restaurants to check out.

Love the Maine coast. You will be there before the summer rush so that's good. Still cool. Portland airport is easy. There is a ferry that runs pretty frequently over to Peak island. Nice day trip. Also Ogunquit is nice with shops and bars and restaurants. There is a pier with restaurants and shops. There is also a walkable path next to the coast called The Marginal Way. Visit a lobster pound in Wells on the coast. There are lighthouses scattered . Kennybunkport is very nice.

We agree. Portland is a great food town. We could easily spend a week there, but we are curious about the rest of the state....especially the coast.

Any of the coastal islands worth visiting? We've spent the night on Islesboro and had a blast.

Is north of Bar Harbor worth exploring?

Abita, we welcome your thoughts!

We stayed a week in Maine last June. We have a VRBO cabin in Ellsworth about 1/2 hour drive north of Bar Harbor. Nice cabin on a lake. spent day and a half circling Acadia. If you wish to visit Cadillac Mtn you need to reserve a time with NPS. Lobster boat tour in Bar Harbor was interesting as was the NPS boat tour to Little Cranberry Island. took day drive up to Lubec/Canadian border town. Another day trip drove south from Bar Harbor to Camden, Rockland, Freeport.

In June temps were in low 70s with no humidity and falls into low 40s at night. Bring rain jackets.
