Portal striking HS recruiting now!

Jeff Curtis (Coach at John Curtis) said this is the first time in 50 years they haven’t had a player sign anywhere. Mentioned college coaches saying how they don’t have room due to the portal recruiting that occurs nowadays. Can only imagine how the game is going to look in 5 years now that JUCO also doesn’t count against eligibility

I'd say it has more to do with the fact they don't get every good player from the metro area anymore. It's why the east bank of JP football was down for years. East Jeff, Bonnabel, Grace King, Riverdale all watched the most talented kids in their district go to Curtis or Rummel. Now with the charter schools and different rules for select schools, those kids can go wherever they want pretty much.

Maybe if most of them didn't underperform in college, or they ran a scheme that actually developed them for college, or he let them be recruited during the season, or encouraged them to consider FCS and D2...

Didn’t they finish the season like 7-7. Is it possible they didn’t have the talent they’re use to and just came together in the playoffs and made a little run?
I’m not saying the portal isn’t causing any issues with HS recruiting, but that may not be why JC went without a college signing this year.

Juco is the new farm team. BRCC should look into starting something

It definitely makes a lot of sense for Jucos to become farm teams now.
Except for rare freshman phenoms, older bigger and stronger makes a big difference

My son transferred from JC 4 years ago and played football for them. Unfortunately this team will be even worse next year talent wise. The coaches will keep them competitive in each game, but they will probably lose several Catholic league matchup.

I have no doubt the portal and NIL have had detrimental consequences to some high school kids looking for major or mid major conference offers. That said, those offers realistically should be trickling down to the smaller d1 conferences, FCS schools, even div 2 and div 3. Those schools should be becoming more talented and have a wider range of kids they can now recruit and have a shot at signing.
Downside, the ones that excel are gonna use those smaller schools to essentially audition for the bigger check/school. That's the game now so they must adjust.
All that to say, JCs lack of signers is more likely due to, having the least talented group they've had in years and maybe, just maybe, they are expecting too much and turning away opportunities to smaller schools chasing the power offer. That is fine until those small schools fill up and no longer have a spot for you.
Further point, imo Mr Curtis is passing blame towards the system over taking accountability for the downfall of his program. It was all good for them until the playing field was leveled out. Now they cry "the system broke us". Typical of those that believe they have earned entitlement. The 'system", pick one, appears to be one bad motherfricker. Apparently it's responsible for everyone's failures.

JUCO made more sense before NCAA eliminated the year in residence requirement. I actually see them losing the influence they once had.

You are assuming they are wanted at even those lower D1 schools now. Those schools also like experienced older kids if they can get them.
Curtis said his kids signed nowhere.
So JUCO would be a good option there plus they will retain all the future years of eligibility, if recent rule holds up.
So then you become a more developed 20 year old freshman. Maybe that becomes more appealing to lower D1 schools. Then try and move yourself up at 22 with 2 years of eligibility left.

G5 schools are pulling from FCS. FCS programs are pulling from D2. They aren't getting many of their older transfers from JUCO.
Having a football program is also simply not financially worth it for the vast majority of JUCO schools. There are even fewer legit JUCO spots where you will get the development and exposure you need to transfer up than any other level of football except the NFL. Now that the former D1 bounce back kids aren't going there because they don't have to sit out, there's very little incentive for college coaches to spend time recruiting those schools. There's a reason Last Chance U moved on to basketball, then stopped altogether.
The whole reason behind the Pavia ruling is flawed anyway. JUCO doesn't mean you "can't" legally make NIL money, you just don't have any value. I don't believe it will be the rule for long.
The NFL doesn't want 25-year-old rookies. And we're already talking about extremely marginal prospects with very low chances of making it up a level.

Yes they do for QB's
Burrow, Jayden, Bo Nix, etc. Old rookies
And again my argument is if the recent ruling hold up. It would make the past less relevant.

They'll still take the 21-year-old over the 25-year-old every time, all things considered. They've seen that those well-drafted older guys bust out at the same rates, if not higher. QBs are also the second least likely position to make a roster after specialists. So, even if what you are saying is true, it doesn't hold for the vast majority of prospects.
The guys you mentioned were 22-23, not 25. They all were recruited out of HS by high-major programs, they weren't borderline FCS prospects whi considered JUCO. And they are the exception, not the rule.

I added my examples right before you typed but there is zero doubt that older rookie QB's is the future.
Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix
Archie wants Arch to stay at Texas for 3 more years

Again this new rule hasn't been implemented yet about JUCO years not counting. Looking forwards not backwards

Again, if we're talking about 25-year-olds who went to JUCO for two years, then low D1 for two years, then transferred up again, we're not talking about 22-23 year olds who were 5* recruits coached by Sark for 4-5 years.
What Archie wants is irrelevant if there are teams wanting to draft Arch in the top 5 next year.
We're talking about the value of JUCO for JUCO or FCS quality players. Not 5* recruits from major schools.

Why? They just basically bought Children's Hospital. They have enough money to do what they want. He knows the experience, maturity, physical development it takes to be ready for the NFL

He's also completely irrelevant to the discussion about JUCO for marginal D1 prospects and their NFL likelihood.

Grandaddy has a lot of useful knowledge, given he raised and guided 2 elite NFL children QBs
