The CSAL BB leagues of Baton Rouge look as strong as ever. After seeing most of the teams on the list play either Friday or Saturday, here are my up to date standings.
8th Grade..
1. St. George
2. St. Jude
3. Parkview Baptist
4. OLOM
5. Sacred Heart
6. STM
7th Grade...
1. St. George
2. Sacred Heart
3. St. Jude
4. OLOM
5. STM
6. St. Aloysius
7. St. Alphonsus
In 8th grade, St. Jude coached by Tommy Hodson made a big statement today with a victory over a suprisingly big Parkview Baptist team led by J McGinnis and #40 (unknown). St. Jude will meet St. George in the much anticipated SGS tournament 8th grade finals on Monday night. St. Jude is led by point guard David Losavio and a host of solid role players. St. George is led by Bobby Mikitinas, Christian Brusavich Jordan Long and Christopher Peck.
In 7th grade, St. George still looks like the team to beat but Sacred Heart and OLOM have shown themselves very competitive during the last week. SGS has beaten Sacred Heart once and OLOM twice in competitive contests during the last 10 days. St. Jude is a hard team to predict as they have plenty of size but moves down a notch after losing to Sacred Heart on Saturday. St. George has alot of talent and has the most depth of the teams in this division. The team looks to be 10 deep and is led by a strong backcourt of N Whalen, W Cotten and A Arceneux along with a dominant front court of B Pinner, R Issa and A Theriot. This team could be one of the best seen on the CSAL trails. Sacred Heart is lead by the tandem of R Brundage and Hunter (unk). While St. Jude is led by a talented guard forward combination of Shexnayder and Daniels. St. George and Sacred Heart meet for round 2 in the finals of the SGS tournament on Monday night.

The positive in all of this is that it eliminates a loophole and makes contact easier to regulate... it's now against the rules for coaches to be at middle school basketball camps

southside jr in denham has a 6'2h swingman that can dunk and shoot 3's to go along with a 6'3h center who can dunk and a 7th grade swing man who can grab rim two hands and shoots lights out. they undefeated this year, lost 1 game last year, and those 3 combine to average nearly 40 a game playin usually only half the 8th grade games 24 minutes

Parkview is not even part of the csal. They were just invited to play in the St. George tournament.

For the record, these CSAL rankings are pathetic.

Thanks guys. I really work hard on my rankings and it is a shame to see some hack throwout rankings with un-eligible teams in them.

The fact that I don't live in the great state anymore might have a little to do with that.

You move back to Texas?

doesn't this whole situation involve improper contact of NCAA prospects?

Bear at least I have seen the teams play and can report on what I have seen versus someone who just talks about the last 10 years of standings. I will agree with you that Parkview is not a CSAL team but I noticed you did not disagree with my standings. Parkview, Catholic and Episcapol along with others are regular 8th grade competition to the CSAL teams of Baton Rouge. Maybe if you actually went to a game you would know that.

I wonder if Duke is making sure Candace Parker and Sheldon Williams baby is going to be born at Duke. That kid will have scouts at his baby shower.
