This song came to me last night and it just has that total blues feel. The story, the attitude, it's some bootlegger blues.
A recording to get the melody Moonlight Rambler
I know my voice is shite I think I'm getting sick. Had to patch in the spots where i started coughing. Anyway
How where would i go about finding someone to put some guitar or what have you to the lyrics.
Crossroads at midnight?
Because I think that's all that's missing from a really killer blues song.
TIA
Here's the lyrics
Moonlight Rambler
[verse]
they said my great-grandpappy ain't had no job,
but was never behind on no bills,
That big ol black Buick could outrun the mob,
I guess he just liked keepin' still,
He cared for his family however he could, knew every backroad in the land,
If you knew him well, then you know where he stood, he wouldn't back down from no man,
[chorus]
They called him the Moonlight Rambler,
A moonshine gambler, that's what they say,
And he met that Midnight Ambler,
At the crossroads on the fifteenth of May,
[verse]
It was halfway through May, I remember the day, and a lidless moon hung in the sky,
He got on the blacktop and then suddenly stopped, he never could tell us just why,
On the road up ahead was an ambush of feds, with Tommy guns loaded for bear,
Down dark roads not taken, Pap desperate to shake 'em, stopped lost at a crossroads somewhere.
[chorus]
They called him the Moonlight Rambler,
A desperate scrambler, running away
But he met that Midnight Ambler,
At the crossroads on the fifteenth of May,
[verse]
Stood there in the middle, a man played a fiddle, black suit, wore a bowler and grin,
Called Grandpappy's name and said it was a shame, that the Man was soon comin' for him,
They were hot on his heels, but if he'd make a deal, roads ahead would be nothing but clear,
It was Devil or death, he agreed with a breath, the condition, meet back in a year,
[chorus]
They called him the Moonlight Rambler,
That Midnight Ambler, got him away,
You can't trust that fork-tongued gambler,
Bought him a year 'til the fifteenth of May,
[verse]
For a year, roads were clear,
Feds seemed to disappear,
And the rats all got caught in their traps,
He searched for that spot,
But it seemed he could not,
Find it, like it was wiped off the map,
It's a dangerous game,
And then when the day came,
He bid all his family farewell,
Then he just drove around,
'Til at midnight he found,
He was there at the crossroads from Hell,
[chorus]
They called him the Moonlight Rambler,
Ambler Parked there in a black Stutz V8,
Can't trust that in-fer-nal gambler,
Fifteenth of May was the day of his fate
[bridge]
Pap got out and admired his Stutz,
He said "Mr. Scratch, that's some mighty fine wheels.
Man I bet she can race, and I'd love one last taste,
Of some speed 'fore we finish this deal.
I know you got me beat but that ride is so sweet."
Lucy grinned, and said "sure, do your worst."
Pap said "thanks, one last thing,
Since you'll soon be damn-ing,
Do you mind if I get started first?"
And the devil agreed,
Damn fine guy, yes indeed
[chorus]
Then away walked the Moonlight Rambler,
On the fifteenth of May, ain't been back to that place,
Pappy bested that Midnight Ambler,
That Buick's still there waiting to start the race.
They call him the Moooooooooonlight
Ramblerrrrrrrrr

If you want to find someone locally, make a post on the Craigslist musicians community or the Bandmix app. If you just want anyone anywhere to record, make a post on r/bedroombands.

You should try learning to play a little guitar.
You could do that song with 3 chords.
If you tune in open E, you can do it with 1 finger.

It sounds more like an Irish drinking song or an Appalachian ballad than a blues song.

It was originally imagined as a cross between bluegrass and blues. They kind of just take on a life of their own.
In the last 72 hours I've written 13 complete songs. I just was on a tear, ranging from blues to bluegrass to prog rock to alt rock to Motown to country.
I mean stuff I'm proud of and think is solid
