Tennessee taking a day off mourning Georgia Jesus.
quote:

Flags in Tennessee will be flown at full staff on Jan. 20 in honor of Donald Trump's Presidential Inauguration, announced Gov. Bill Lee on Tuesday.

Flags over the State Capitol and all state buildings will be raised from 11 a.m. on Inauguration Day through sunrise Jan. 21, before returning to half-staff to continue to mourn the death of former President Jimmy Carter, who died at age 100 on Sunday, Dec. 29 in Plains, Georgia.

Tennessee to show respect for the incoming POTUS

I would like to see Landry do the same for Louisiana...and all the Republican governors should follow suit. It's time to start undoing all the damage Biden did.

It would be tacky to disrespect the new president by not doing this.

What does Biden have to do with this?

As I mentioned in a similar post...

The interesting part of all of this is the conflicting interpretations of US Flag Code

U.S.C. 4 §6 - Outlines Times and Occasions for Display. This is where it says the flags are to be displayed on Inauguration Day.

U.S.C. 4 §7 - Outlines Position and Manner of Display. This is where it says the flags are to be displayed at half-staff for 30 days after the death of a former president.

The Executive Proclamations at the bottom of the code are where Eisenhower's proclamation for the 30 day half-staff requirement is also captured.

Sarah Sanders of Arkansas declared the same mandate yesterday and I'm good with it. Hope for the future, Trump, outweighs inadequacies of the past, Carter, when it comes to flag etiquette for an inauguration day ceremony.

I'm guessing he means Kay Ivey....who did order them at full staff for the inauguration.

Correct. Kay Ivey ordered this a couple days ago.

Allow me to fill you in....Biden is the one who ordered flags to be flown at half staff for 30 days in honor of Jimmy Carter (a past president who passed away recently).

Donald Trump (who was elected overwhelmingly by the American voters in November of 2024) will be inaugurated on January 20th. Biden's declaration seems to overlap this January 20th date, thus flags will be half staff during the inauguration, which is rare.

This is what I meant when I said let's start undoing things that BIDEN did to damage our country.,

Are you still mourning Carter?

You’re a lying SOB if you say yes.

Never did mourn him. I didn't know the man.

It's just a respect thing. If the situation were reversed, a lot of you would be screeching like banshees. You can't only "respect the office" when Trump is in.
Standards are standards; it's not that hard to understand, but most of you don't, and call any opinion communist or liberal that doesn't lick the arse of Trump.

Are you trying to imply that Biden wrote the US flag code or that he conspired to have Jimmy Carter die so that the 30 day window would overlap with Trump's inauguration?

Inaug for a day and a month for the President outside of that day. Whatever is the standard should be for both.
