I have recently noticed what I consider to be some strange Spotify statistics.

Some of it may just be related to demographics, or the age of the average fan, etc.

But some of them just don't make sense. For example:

Billy Strings: 1.8 million monthly listeners
Bryan Martin: 6 million monthly listeners

Bryan Martin appears to be an "up and coming" country musician from Louisiana who is an opening act and plays very small venues.

Billy Strings regularly sells out multiple nights of larger venues.

Martin's top song has 302K streams
Strings' top solo song has 38 million streams

These are just two random examples I picked. But it appears these Spotify stats are bullshite. The numbers don't make sense.

I can show many other examples of classic bands that have sold 10s of millions of albums, with lower streaming numbers than some pop-country or rap album, but that could probably be justified by demographics

A lot of Strings fans are listening on Nugs, but not enough for that difference.
