Texas doing a great job of containing the running QB .Using a spy and guys are on top of him before he even makes it to the line of scrimmage.

I think we have the personnel. If not this year then definitely next. If Oklahoma can hold bama to 3 points and Michigan can have success then I don't see why we have to give up 300 yards on the ground.

I hope so too. I’m just saying that you have to have certain players to run that scheme. Oklahoma had a solid defense. Venables isn’t the greatest HC but he’s a damn good defensive mind

You think having studs across the board is helping Texas any.

Baker will have the dudes next year ,that will be cleaned up quick.

You’re wrong. We don’t have a talent on defense the level of Collin Simmons. That’s why he was so highly payed

All I'm saying is Marcel Reed was unstoppable against us. I didn't follow much of a&m after that but I didn't hear much about reed for the rest of the year. Do we have the best players ever on defense? No. But we should be able to have some success against running QBs. I like baker but this is my only concern

While I agree the individual talent of various players makes a huge difference, I can't help but see Texas players being in the proper position to make the necessary plays. That is pretty much across the board with Texas. I don't really see any real weaknesses.
It seems that the difference is in their coaching at all positions.
I look forward again to the days when LSU is as competent as a complete team.
Our coaches claimed, especially on offense, to put our skill players in the best position to show their talents. Maybe that is their goal, which is admirable, but it doesn't appear that they really know how to do that.
It is a team game, and one major unit weakness can make another unit appear not as good as they really are. We have lots of room for improvement , especially watching this Texas team perform in every phase.

Sad that Milroe is only a Heisman-caliber QB against LSU.

His second year defense at Mizzou contained mobile QBs just fine. It’s not a scheme problem. It’s a Penn was way too slow and our Safeties were all bad diagnosing and tackling problem. And occasionally the DL had issues getting moved around, especially in the Bama game.

Ummm

Maybe if LSU had Barron, Mukuba, Hill, Simmons, Taaffe etc we’d be good too

We need better players

We aren’t completely devoid of talent, especially in the front 7. But you can’t have a situation where most of your talent is true or redshirt freshmen and sophomores. McKinley, Breaux, Reliford, Weeks and Key are all SEC-level starters and a couple of them could end up being better than that.

A problem has been the lack of EXPERIENCED talent. The portal additions should be a big help there, but we really need our young talent to develop this offseason and make big impacts next year.
