Like, I have a few lady friends and I have no interest in becoming romantic partners with them. We do occasionally travel together but we don’t book together or stay at the same hotel. Is this just a generational thing?

It's possible but not advisable if you want to have a serious relationship with someone else. If you want to travel with other people, and leave your significant other behind, then why in the hell are you with that person? The logic is torturous.

Nope. If you aren’t trying, you are probably gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

No. Women “friends” are simply backups in the event we’re suddenly single.

I have a straight male friend. We often watch sports together, talk about sports, or attend sporting events. My SO is more interested in hunting and fishing than football or basketball so he doesn't mind if I watch a game with my friend. I suspect that the friend might be a distant cousin but have not found records to verify that yet.

New lady friends later in life? No.

Lady friends that you grew up with? Yes…they were here well before the wife. They are all married too now.

I think I’m friends with my wife’s Lady friends.

Think it depends on the context. I have a few female friends that I think are good looking and vice versa at work. We are at similar places in life with work, kids, marriage, etc. I would’ve definitely hooked up with them or even pursued something more in my earlier days.

However our relationship really doesn’t extend past work and maybe an occasional work gathering. I’ve known them for a decade plus so I’d say yea to the OPs question.

Yep. All you have to do is condition yourself not to be reactive.

Not in my experience. I mean, I may have an ‘acquaintance’ or two at work, etc. but not a friend I’d hang out with one on one or outside the office.

Even if I wanted to it’d be pretty disrespectful to my wife to be texting and hanging out with another woman whether something was going on or not.

I'm sure your friend has rubbed one out to you a few times.

It’s more feasible as you get older. But two 25 year old attractive heterosexuals of the opposite sex being friends with no ulterior motive? Nahhh they both know what they’re doing.
