The DA is trying to get a 4 mill 20 year tax added to your property tax bill to:
SWB was going to cut the budget of the City-Parish office by 5% so that she could use that money to fund the city of BR. So moving parish wide money to fund the city just like she was doing with St. George's money:
And of course this would be on a May ballot when very few people vote.
The DA believes that it will raise $20MM. Of course he left off the part that the assessor's office updates that property values every 4 years so by the 20th year it will be closer to $30MM - so more than he is selling it as, just like the library and BREC do.

Moore said that the proposed property tax "will not only generate the additional funds my Office so desperately needs, but will also provide for more dedicated and consistent funding, which will remove politics from the management of the office."

If approved, the measure would add 4 mills to parish property tax bills for 20 years. A mill is $1 of tax on each $1,000 of taxable property.

We pay too much property tax now.
Cut BREC 20%
Cut Libraries 20%
Cut out COA
Cut out Mental Health
Give Hillar Moore a four year one million dollar added tax and tell him to quit whining and give us results.

Implementing stiffer penalties for crimes could serve as a deterrent, potentially leading to a decrease in case loads. In return it reduces cost.
