I will admit there are some adjustments in a positive manner: see Ahmad hardy

But.

It seems like the services completely anchor their recruiting rankings and essentially blame coaches for being dumber than them if a kid leaves their freshman or sophomore year.

Take Micah Hudson. The guy did nothing yet he’s a 4 star and one of the higher rated WRs

Princewill umanlienman has 2 years in the same defense with FAR inferior production to butler yet Princewill is one of the highest rated players in the portal.

Duce robinson has had <400 yards in either of his two seasons yet on 247 he’s the number 2 player overall

Bear Alexander had a decent sophomore year but had 4 tackles and sat out 3/4 of the season because he had gotten passed up on USCs defense but 247 has him as the #25 player in the country

Williams Nwaneri same thing

Maybe worry less about how service rank players and watch what the coaches do.

I still think Duce Robinson could be a monster in the right system, BUT ranking him the #2 player in the portal is ludicrous.

Yeah it’s fairly easy to go based off offer sheet and production.

For the high school kids you have differences in age, competition etc etc etc.

For the transfers it’s different

247 factors in high school ranking way too heavy. On3 isn’t as bad

I remember 247 had Aidan Chiles as the top qb transfer last cycle just because of his HS rating

On3 had/has Eric Singleton as the #1 player in the portal. While he had a good year and I am not here to criticize him Aaron Anderson had a better year than he did and they are about the same physically.

Now I will say it is hard to compare players in different systems. Anderson played in an offense that threw it 50 times a game while Singleton played in one where the QB ran 15-20 times a game. Hard to say what somebody will do in a different scheme and environment.

I would hope our coaches are viewing film and not just going off these rankings.
