About to close on a new house and the day before the hard freeze, one of the builders subs turned the water on and the irrigation ran freezing all sod and plants solid.

The sod was laid a few weeks ago and the plants maybe a month ago. What are the chances the builder has killed all my sod and plants?

How cold did it get? Where are you? May have actually been protective. Time will tell

Running the sprinkler system during a hard freeze may be a good thing

The heat released as the water freezes protects the plants from cold injury

The length of time that it was frozen is probably a big factor.

Sod is crazy resilient. I'd be surprised if it suffers at all.

It will be okay…it will be exposed to the same conditions every year, from now on.
