DHS plans on letting in 65,000 more H-2B visa migrants in 2025 to take American jobs

“The Department of Homeland Security is committed to further growing our nation’s strong economy,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas. “By maximizing the use of the H-2B visa program, the Department of Homeland Security is helping to ensure the labor needs of American businesses are met, keeping prices down for consumers while strengthening worker protections and deterring irregular migration to the United States.”
The H-2B supplemental rule would include an allocation of 20,000 visas to workers from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Colombia, Ecuador, or Costa Rica and a separate allocation of 44,716 supplemental visas that would be available to returning workers who received an H-2B visa, or were otherwise granted H-2B status, during one of the last three fiscal years.

I can't believe the DHS continues to blow smoke up the worker's arse. They plan on letting in more cheap labor to take our jobs. Many of the jobs are construction and plant jobs. That is the devil in the details they won't tell you. Plants in this area are now loaded with hispanics today because of this. Nothing changed in Trump's previous term either, so you can't blame it on democrats. They focus on "illegal migrants" to take attention away from the ones let in legally, while Americans are unemployed and the working conditions deteriorate. Its all smoke and mirrors. Capitalism at it finest, and manipulation of the sheep through deception.
quote:
American businesses in industries such as hospitality and tourism, landscaping, seafood processing, and more turn to seasonal and other temporary workers in the H-2B program to help them meet demand for their goods and services.
It stops at the word "more," when they say, " hospitality and tourism, landscaping, seafood processing, and more." The word "More," includes plant, industrial, and construction jobs. These offices like Performance, Turner, or Brown and Root (to name a few) will have a line going out the door hiring in migrants, yet when a local gets to the window they say, we ain't hiring! We see this year after year!

B-1/B-2 tourist visa gets you on the plane in your native country and off the plane in the U.S. and when you present yourself to a U.S. Custom & Border Protection officer, it is at that time the officer decides on your admission to the U.S. At that time, in the airport, the officer may admit you into the U.S., deny you admission into the U.S. and/or revoke your B-1/B-2 visa. If your B-1/B-2 visa is revoked/cancelled or you are denied admission then you can be detained at the airport until you board a returning flight to your native country. Visa Revocation & Cancellation is a reality and happens every day at the U.S. port of entries (airports).
quote:
After the issuance of a visa or other documentation to any alien, the consular officer or the Secretary of State may at any time, in his discretion, revoke such visa or other documentation. Notice of such revocation shall be communicated to the Attorney General, and such revocation shall invalidate the visa or other documentation from the date of issuance

What companies and/or what government entities are hiring these folks?

Nice to see DHS is committed to SOMEthing. They sure aren't committed to border security.

For now...
I truly believe that these contractors are getting some sort of incentive from the government that we don't know about for hiring these people. They often get paid per diem and bonuses from the plants, that they keep for themselves, instead of paying the workers. They seem to prefer hiring migrants today over the local population.
These local contractors have a history of bullshitting people to get what they want. Turner Industries was well known for sending people up north to break picket lines, yet they wouldn't tell the the workers before they sent them that they were breaking a picket line. They would blow smoke up their arse and claim that they were being sent up north because Louisiana has the best workers in the country.

Go to the IT department of any Fortune 500 company and you will see a LARGE number of Indian H1B's.

Work visas- especially for tech - need to have salary requirements that are tied to inflation.

Lots of Ag processing in H2b program.
Crawfish peeling, catfish & poultry processing. Sugar Mills.
These are mostly seasonal / temporary jobs.

As much as this board loves to shite on unions, unionized workers are THE ONLY ONES not getting ethnically replaced.
Really makes you think, don’t it?

There is nothing that these douchebags are telling you that is believable. That still wouldn't change the fact that it is taking away jobs from Louisianians. That is why all of the educated people are leaving the state as soon as they finish college. There is no valid excuse for this! This sounds like more social engineering.

Lol.
Over two-thirds of people covered by a union contract are women and/or a person of color. Almost four in ten are AA, Hispanic, Asian/PI or other non-white.
Good effort, though.

I may be wrong, but I think most of these visas are being used for jobs that Americans refuse to do. Landscape work, farm work, etc.

Not true at all.

H2B is supposed to be non-agricultural.
Almost 50% or the jobs are landscaping and forestry. Hospitality and construction and meat/fish processing make up the bulk of the rest.

H-2A is for agricultural employees and our sugar cane industry would probably be non-exisitant without them. They are hispanic and are doing it the legal way. They do go home after the cutting and planting season. I know this first hand.
The demographic of people that worked in the sugar can fields 30+ years ago are not in the job market anymore.

Fear tactics? They always use this. They are using migrant workers far more than just seasonal jobs. You either believe the propaganda, or maybe you are spreading the bullshite, similar to union busters. Either way, we existed before they were here, we can exist if they aren't here. You totally ignored my posting about the long lines at the local construction offices of hispanic workers while locals can't find work, and you focused on this tiny section that supports your cause.
