Happened on Tuesday. The plant had a previous incident back in 2003, and has a history of half arse maintenance repairs. Looks like lawyers for Morgan and Morgan are licking their chops. My guess is the explosion was related to ammonia. One of the victims was a young man that was working overtime. Sad

Apparently this was the cause. When a company is satisfied with with maintenance jerry rigging repairs, sadly this is the end result.

Am I missing something? Why do you think ammonia had something to do with it?

What about a brick and mortar light industrial building leads you to believe it is related to ammonia?

When the residents around the neighborhood in which the plant is located smelled ammonia after the explosion, I'll take their word for it. It's shoddy maintenance. Facility already had an explosion in 2003. They'll bulldoze it.

They also had folks shelter in place temporarily due to the smell (several folks reported ammonia odor, the r/Louisville Reddit also had a bunch of posts about it).

I lived in the Highlands (not far from the location) for the 2003 explosion. There was also a chemical leak in the 90s.

This one blew out the windows of a coffee shop around the corner.

The biggest kicker is the company claimed everyone was accounted for and they found a man that died in the explosion later. They need to be bulldozed and moved out of the area. It’s a highly populated residential area.

Yeah, it's a shame. I live about 15 minutes from there, and know exactly where it is. Back in 2021 I was offered a job when it was DDW and turned them down. Took a tour of the facility, and made mental notes of the old, outdated equipment. Thank God I didn't take it.
