The Saints front office would be idiots if they hired a defensive-minded head coach after firing DA. He also wouldn't leave Detriot to take a lateral job in New Orleans as DC.

Allen didn't fail bc he's a defensive minded coach. He failed bc he's not a good HC.

What makes you think Glenn is a good HC?

If he does, he'll be gone in 3 years just like Allen.

I have no idea if he is or isn't. I just know that the side of the ball he coaches won't determine that.

ETA... ryans and Gannon are looking like 2 really good hires of late that are defensive guys.

If Rizzi can end this season with more wins than losses, I'd rather have him as coach than Glen

Detroit is a monster. They're #1 overall in team DVOA, and 3rd overall in offensive and defensive DVOA. So Glenn's side has matched Johnson's side, but Johnson is considered a can't miss while Glenn is suspect.

If Loomis is part of the hiring process, it will 100% be one of the Sean Payton guys.

My money is on Glenn as well.

Unfortunately.

I'm not going to jump to say AG would be the guy, but I dont think it is entirely negative for it to be someone from the CSP tree.

I honestly think that DA was an exception, and did things his own way just as he had done in Oakland. But to say someone from the CSP tree would be a dumpster fire, look at what he and Campbell are doing right now.

Goff played like absolute crap last night and Texans still lost. Jury is still out on whether Ryans will be a good HC long term.

Does it have as much to do with offensive / defensive coaches as it did with DA just not being a head coach?

Demeco Ryans, Macdonald, Tomlin, Quinn all seem to do it well

There's some truth to that, but I think people just want a very clean start. To entirely move on as they should have done a few years ago, and have a totally fresh era begin

Ryans is 16-11 after taking over a team that was 7-26-1 the previous 2 seasons. The Texans lead their division, so it looks like they'll make the playoffs 2 years in a row. Ryans may implode, but nothing suggests that. He's been great.

I can definitely understand that side of it, I would just think or hope that AG is more of his own guy and does things the way him and Campbell did.

I don’t care about defensive or offensive coach. I want someone who will take charge and lead the organization like pre-suspended Payton.

That being said, I don’t necessarily want a CSP/Allen guy. I want someone who is not a “continuity” guy like Allen. That includes Glenn and Joe Brady.

Outside of Tomlins Super Bowl over a decade ago, what have any of those defensive minded coaches won?

Andy Reid couldn't get to the playoffs with the shape this team is in. Any coach that comes here is pretty much doomed to fail.

Yeah that over 5 years ago and with the greatest QB in NFL history.

Look at the head coaches in the Super Bowl the last 5 years
Andy Reid
Kyle Shanahan
Nick Sirianni
Sean McVay
Zac Taylor
Bruce Arians

All offensive minded HCs
