Dual fuel 4250 generator. Started it in June and let run a while on propane. It’s only 2 years old with maybe 20 hours.
Yesterday got it out and noticed the small tube on top from gas tank (breather fuel line?) was disconnected. My guess it something was put on top and caused too much pressure on the line and it broke.

Anyway, didn’t think this would affect propane use but now it won’t start. Air filter is clean, got new spark plug this morning even though old one didn’t look bad. Still nothing. Tried different tank just in case. Still nothing.
Does that little tube from the gas tank affect propane use? Any other thoughts

Do you have a picture? Maybe it's something else. Try some starting fluid and see if it will fire.

That is used by the carb to burn off vapors from the fuel tank. I cant see it causing an issue. Did you try to seal it? I assume you have something else going on.

Put gas in it and it started up. Little more research shows the champion regulators go bad quite often.

Can I run with gas if need without the breather hose attached?

Kinda, but mostly just a vent to keep the fuel tank from pressurizing due to heat from the engine, etc. Other CPE generators vent through the fuel cap to atmosphere. If it was me I'd put a check valve in that line and plug off where it enters the air filter housing.

For what it’s worth, I called customer service on a part issue with mine last week. They quickly sent new part free of charge, so good customer service. Been an excellent gen. Love the dual fuel option
