Trout fishing the lights

Any recs/reports on fishing some lights? Finally got a night off after a stretch.
Would love to be able to catch them in the canals in Slidell, but I’m not sure if they are there yet. Debating that vs heading down the road to grand bayou.

They are catching in the lights everywhere. I’m sure Slidell too but definitely anywhere south of there.

I have always had success with ultra lite spinning reels and small white sacalait baits reeled quickly through the lights. If you need more weight to case farther, put a split shot 2' up the line.

Think we gonna the dirty dell a shot, closer than going DTR. My expectations are low

All the trout in the canals I have caught have been smalls. The lake has bigger specs and some nice whites right now. I hope they come sooner than later, It would be nice to get some keepers from my dock, but I haven't caught a keeper fish since the bass went away after Francine.

The reports I’ve heard from the lights in Slidell are still undersized trout

Appreciate that info. We figured the trout would be small and got lazy. We need a couple cold fronts I’m guessing to push the keepers in there?
