Colorado/Utah National Park Roadtrip

I’ve done a few National Park roadtrips that hopefully I’ll get around to sharing someday. Most recent one was one seeing some of the Colorado and Utah parks. Mrs. BruceJender and I flew into Grand Junction, CO and went straight to Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and stayed in Montrose. Did some of the hikes and stopped at all of the pullouts.
Highly recommend making the trip down to east portal. It’s beautiful down there and got to watch a few folks fly fishing.
After that headed to Mesa Verde NP and did the cliff dwelling tours and a few hikes. We stayed in Cortez, CO.
From there we headed to Utah. We stayed in Moab, which is a great town overall. We started with Canyonlands NP seeing Mesa Arch and the rim trail. Did a few other hikes then ended the day with the Upheaval Dome trail.
Still in Moab we then spent two days in Arches NP. In those two days we did almost every hike under 8 miles. The only thing we weren’t able to do on our list was fiery furnace, since we were unable to get the guided tour tickets.
From Arches we headed to Blue Valley Domes just outside of Capitol Reef NP. My iPhone was able to get some incredible shots of the stars. Maybe the only pictures I’ve gotten on a phone that I will say “do it justice.”

Inside the park, we did the big trails (that were open) and got an apple pie from the Gifford house. I’m not a sweet eater by any means, but you can’t pass this up. This marked our 21st of the 63 National Parks together.
Today we arrived back in Grand Junction to fly back tomorrow, stopping at the Colorado National Monument.
On a more personal note, ealier this year my wife had a miscarriage that devastated us. The baby’s due date was my birthday. These trips have always been our therapy in a way, and we took this one on a whim to try and feel better about the situation, to return some sense of normalcy. Tonight we got a positive pregnancy test and we are both over the moon. It was the perfect ending to the trip.
Glad to answer any questions if anyone else wants to experience this amazing trip.

I hope it goes well for you, internet stranger.
I am planning (posted about it last week) a trip to Utah and Wyoming, with my 10 year old that joined the family after many fertility issues.

Thanks for sharing the pics and congratulations.
I've been wanting to do a NP trip through Utah for years and will be reading over all the posts I can find on here for ideas. Thanks!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing! Your pictures are great. We went to Canyonlands and Arches NP last year and loved that area. Hoping to make it to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP soon.
