Increasing car insurance is a topic asked here frequently. We often cite uninsured as the main culprit driving up prices. However, when costing it out, why is it auto insurance can use gender as a variable of price but not race? From a statistical standpoint, this is has a much greater correlating factor of accident costs. Why is gender permitted, age permitted, education permitted, and not race?

Good question. Some in the legislature attempted to change this to where gender could not be a considered factor; however, that bill never made it out of Insurance Committe.

Reel in the personal injury attorneys and cost would come down in line with other states.

Sadly the personal injury lobby is too strong in Louisiana.
