I hate asking random outboard comparisons, but I'm seriously looking at used party barges, and they vary so much.

2016 25' Avalon with a four stroke Suzuki 250, supposedly 31 hours. (divorce, held hostage by wife in storage) (DF250S, 25004F-810509)

2019 25' Trifecta with Yamaha 250SHO with 275 hours, about $15k more than the Avalon/Suzuki.

I'm comfortable with my local dealer support on the Yamaha, but just unfamiliar with local Suzuki support. Will call my local guy tomorrow with that question. Any feedback on Suzuki dealer support near south BR/Prairieville/Gonzales area?

Assuming proper maintenance on both of the motors, which would you prefer to own long term?

I welcome any comments on the boat manufactures as well.

Thanks!

We’ve got 4 Suzuki’s in our fleet right now and have had zero issues out of any of them. THey seem to be better on gas than the Yamaha and Mercury and quieter. With that said, Yamaha makes a great motor as well. Out of hose 2 options, I’d save $15k and go with the Avalon.

Those Df Suzukis have different gear ratios than the Yamahas. GReat hole shot. But otherwise both great motors.

Both great engines and offer similar life span. All the commercial guys in Hopedale run Suzuki's now (at least the ones I know). But it all depends on dealer. It would be hard to pay 15k more unless the Zuk dealer is bad.

I'd save the 15k and go with the Zuk.

Just put a DF250 Suzuki on my boat. Researched for a couple years then finally pulled the trigger. Love it.

Yamaha has good motors also but not 15K better.
