Ive gotta watch some westerns for school.

The Shootist
Geronimo
Open Range
3:10 to Yuma
One-Eyed Jacks
Dances With Wolves

Don't have to watch all of those, just a few and would like to hear some opinions on any of those if anyone has any.

Sad to say I've only see 3:10 to Yuma (the remake with Bale/Crowe). It was pretty good. Nothing to write home about.

Are you limited to these choices?

If you're going to do Westerns, you need to start with a lot of Sergio Leone stuff.

I'd start with Once Upon a Time in the West

Very long movie, i think 3 hours, but once you've seen it once, you wanna kill yourself every other time

The Shootist

Checked for this movie on an online site and it wasn't there

One-eyed Jacks is okay but nothing too special

I would pick The Shootist, Geronimo, and Dances With Wolves.

Dances with Wolves is probably the most PC Western I've ever seen. The indians er,native americans, are all great family oriented, loving, relatively clean people. All the white men, with the exception of the role Costner gave to himself, are illiterate, alcoholic, dirty and spiteful.

Kevin Costner hates whitey.

And whitey was so good to the Indians.

Definitely watch Dances With Wolves.

I'd pick "Open Range", of course I've watched it about 20 times...it's that good.

looks like it is gonna be the shootist, geronimo, 3:10 to Yuma, and open range. almost done with open range now, and it's not bad.

we had to watch 5, but i already watched the outlaw josey wales, and that was a no brainer.

If you have to choose 3, I'd go with these.

Watch the original version of 3:10 to Yuma -- one of the greatest westerns ever made -- and when called on it tell the teacher the version you had to watch wasn't specified.

One-Eyed Jacks is in my top 20 as well.

And The Shootist -- is 3 enough?

BTW, Avoid that PC POS Dances With Wolves like the plague.

I wasn't making a political statement with my assessment of Dances with Wolves. Decent movie, but way over the top in the PC department (and I'm a fairly liberal guy).

Silverado is good.

Kevin Kline

Kevin Costner (I think this was his first movie ever. He was hilarious in this movie)

Scott Glynn (Bad guy in Urban Cowboy)

Danny Glover

Jeff Goldblum

Rosanna Arquette

Brian Dennehy

James Gammon (Coach in Major League)
