Nate Sheppard vs. Harlem Berry

Has LSU offered Nate Sheppard out of Mandeville?
Sheppard plays against 5A competition while Berry plays 1A.
Sheppard has 24 TDs in 4 games. He’s making it looks easy against better competition.
Are we going to miss on this kid?

lol! You laugh bc you don’t know. You can’t answer my question, so your opinion means crap to me. I at least have a legitimate question/concern. The jump from 1A ball to SEC is massive, especially for a running back.
You’re star gazing.
Sheppard lead this Mandeville team to a playoff run they had no business being in last year. They lost to Ruston, (who wound up winning state) 1 game before making it to the dome.

Are you the same guy who made a Sheppard post awhile ago?
I'm gonna assume you are family or friend of his? Because that's the only frickin way you could ask what's the difference between him and Berry

Anyone with eyes can see Berry perform in 7v7 and at elite camps and understand he has talent that can’t be taught.
Other kid might be good, but Berry is on a different level.

No. This is my first post about him.
Nate Sheppard is out performing Harlem Berry on a 5A level.
I don’t give a crap about 7v7. I’m talking about real tackle football.

Anyone with eyes can see that Nate Sheppard is doing legendary things against much better competition on a real football field. Not some 7v7 crap.

Not sure why this upsets you so much. I’m sure Sheppard is solid, but if he’s better than/just as good as Berry, don’t you think LSU would’ve offered him by now?

If you are a friend of his, get some film to whoever the guy is at LSU now. Star rankings are mostly made at allstar camps, if he didn’t go to any that’s the issue

He’s the 17th ranked kid in the state. That ain’t bad.
Let him go to Duke and prove what he can do and transfer.
If he were that good now, the SEC schools would be all over him.
They still could late offer him. 105 scholarships opens that up.

What makes Harlem Berry better than Sheppard?
Maybe the fact that he is the fastest player in high school football and is wanted by every team in the country.

The only thing I was upset about was that you laughed w/o any answer, as if my question was not valid.
I believe level competition, and how a player performs against that competition holds more value than any star designation.
I know the level of competition Berry is playing against bc I played in the same district as St Martins. It’s embarrassing, to say the least, so it’s hard for me put much stock into what he’s doing playing real 11v11 football.
Then I see what Sheppard is doing against 5A competition and it makes me wonder.
I’m not saying Berry isn’t going to do well. I’m just wondering what makes him better in comparison.

That’s not saying much. Plenty schools go after dudes that never measure up to their expectation.

Projection and versatility. That's what makes Berry better. Is he really better? Who knows but 100s of colleges and scouts all agree that Berry is better. All of them could be wrong but the odds aren't great.
Production in HS no matter the level is not an indication of college or greater success. Many, many high school legends and statistical record holders that didn't sniff college above the division 2 or 3 level. Many never at all. Scheme, surrounding talent, coaching etc can all contribute to 5'7 180 RBs with 4.7 or slower speed racking up 2000 yards in a season. It happens in every year in most states.
Sheppard is obviously better than that but we've offered 4 instate RBs this cycle and Sheppard isn't one. Jasper Parker tops the next group. Something about Sheppard just doesn't appeal to Frank Wilson.

Harlem Berry is going to be versatile. Will take hand offs and line up at WR, and by all reports, should be damn good at both

This is what I was looking for. This makes sense. Thank you!
Perhaps Mandeville has a really good Oline this year. I don’t know. Maybe he’s doing more with more, whereas Berry is doing more with less.

Sheppard sounds like he’s gonna do work at Nicholls

Nah. He’s committed to Duke.
He’ll probably get offered by a more prominent program before he puts ink to paper.
