After heading back to LSU for the UCLA game, the Tigers should be considered the front-runner for five-star Jahkeem Stewart.

Gorney’s take: FICTION. LSU is definitely a major player and there’s no doubt that the Tigers have made Jahkeem Stewart a top priority but I just don’t think he has a front-runner at this point. He has been very intrigued by the NIL opportunities at USC and the development under position coach Eric Henderson and others. Oregon has a lot to offer. Playing for position coach Larry Johnson - and seeing his NFL development - is huge. And of course LSU is close to home, he could play SEC ball there and be coached by some of the best as well. He could end up with the Tigers but I don’t think Stewart is thinking in terms of a team to beat in his recruitment yet.

Spiegelman’s take: FACT. There are a lot of unknowns swirling around five-star defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart right now, including when he'll graduate and whether he'll be a part of the 2025 or 2026 class. One thing for certain is the fact that LSU will be involved in this recruitment until the end. Stewart has a lead group comprised of the Tigers, USC, Ohio State and Oregon, and has made multiple stops at each campus this year, including another trip back for the UCLA game. If Stewart winds up reclassifying and doesn't get to see the field as a senior, there are many reasons to believe that Baton Rouge would make the most sense. Bo Davis and Frank Wilson have been on top of this recruitment for years. USC and Ohio State both have made this very close at times, but I expect the Tigers to be involved until the end in this one.

I will always like our chances with Frank and Bo. Hopefully the kid stays home!

Hilarious how USC and Oregon sell NFL development but with LSU it’s just being close to home

It’s like that guy doesn’t realize Bo Davis is LSU’s DL coach. He could’ve stopped at NIL and sounded a lot smarter.

I understand the allure of NIL but if he’s watching the improvement of this LSU dline under Bo then you’d have to think that helps, provided that we can somewhat compete with the NIL offer

Ohio St. Not close. Larry Johnson has 30 years of proof.
Oregon could be #2 if you include Lanning and Tosh Lupois contributions.
I'd say Bo 3rd though with People's contribution it's extremely close with Oregon. Wouldn't balk if they were switched.
Henderson has the NFL, Aaron Donald(not that he needed Henderson) angle.

I personally believe it's USC and LSU. Both home coaches with one actually being home and the other the close friend of Stewart's primary advisor. Dont think NIL is gonna be the differencemaker. All will be outrageous. Only way it factors is if a school just bows out. That is not likely to be us.

I honestly don't think anybody really has a clue at this point.

You don't think anyone has a clue ? I've said it from the time that Thanos was starting to get notice, he will absolutely, 100%, unequivocally be an LSU Tiger.
They wont be outbid or out recruited, he is the most important in state recruit for LSU since Fournette, and will be treated as such.
LSU has taken every step they possibly could have in advance of Stewart making his decision.
By the time this season is over with and Stewart sees the progression of this defensive line, it should be a no-brainer for him.
SC is, in my mind the only serious threat, but when you add everything together, LSU will make all other things equal, and this is home.
Very smartly, LSU isn't using being the home state as its best card to play. They are using it as the straw to break the camels back, while placing themselves as the team to beat in all other recruiting aspects as well. They couldn't have played it any better, and that will evidence itself when he ultimately picks LSU.

This recruitment has a strange feel to it. I am hoping for the opposite, but wouldn't be shocked if this does not end up well.

I also could see Stewart lining up for us at DT & DE like Chris Jones is for KC, in that case he would also get coached by Peoples. While Bo has done a tremendous job with what he has at DT this year I'd argue Peoples has been the bigger surprise,(everyone knew Bo was one of the best, Peoples is making his case as one of the best edge coaches in the country) Swinson and Jones have 5 and 4.5 sacks after having 3.5 and 3 last year. Both are on pace to break LSU single season record, bottom line is Stewart won't get better coaching than he will at LSU. I hope he stays home
