I had new sod put in about a month and a half ago. Grass is green and thick. Today I cut them and the grass is yellowish after the cut. Not sure if I cut it too low but my lawnmower setting is set on highest cut,

Here’s the pic

I got Palisades at my house and Empire zoysia at my mom’s house. You can’t kill that stuff. It will turn green again. Give it a little water it’s been kind of hot. The stuff is slow growing while trying to get established it will be fine.

I would say sharpen your blade but that one may be a lost cause. Get a new blade and cut more frequently.

Could just be a little stressed and you exposed that layer when you cut. Was this your first cut?

You probably cut too much off. Zoysia has a tendency to get a thatch build up so be careful with your mows. Since this growing season is pretty much over just maintain. Your first mow of the year next year bring your HOC down. Zoysia prefers a shorter mow height. 2 inches or so.

Looks like your deck needs some leveling.

Zoysia looks better as low as you can get. If your yard is kind of flat you can easily maintain and cut at the lowest setting on your mower.

Zoysia needs to be mowed low or it gets thatchy and will yellow every time you cut it. Scalp it next spring to as low as your mower with go.

Get yourself a reel mower.

It will be okay. Mow more often and water as needed.
