Who started this trend and why is it the cool thing to do there?

Under Armour for instance is getting a ton of free advertisement off of high school kids making their announcemnt at the these games.

Someone came up with one hell of a marketing scheme and it is working really well.

I don't think it takes much to convince a kid that announcing on NATIONAL TELEVISION at an all-star game is a good idea. They love the attention. Symbiotic relationship.

Also in the grand scheme of TV advertising i don't think these all star games have that much value.

I think what he means is that they're getting additional viewership they might not otherwise get, hence, their ads go out to more people than they might otherwise go out to.

Exactly!!! I would most likely not be watching if kids were not announcing where they were attending.

+1 Good point. I didn't think of that way.

Don't you think that's what UA is going far. It's an excellent investment in thier sponsorship for these announcements to take place at their game!

Anyone that follows recruiting and is somewhat familier w/ the players involved is going to tune into the game anyways.

Well no doubt. What's in it for the kids other than the me factor on tv?

UA can't give them ANYTHING on the side, no money, no clothes, no anything.
