Nah

Used the Jaws and Alien model

Bits and pieces here and there to build tension.

Plenty in 3rd act.

Latest movie had a lot of them but way less tension.

The Kiss of Death and just before, where he chomped down on her neck... such a satisfying moment.

Had one of the goat movie trailers. The music in the trailer just gives you chills.

Which is the dumbest idea ever. Unlike Jaws or Alien this was like the 35th Godzilla movie. We all know what he looks like it's not a secret. I mean I understand building tension but they screwed the pooch and waited way too long to show Godzilla in full. So much so that he feels like a glorified cameo in his own movie, and the first half of the movie was focused on those lame arse bug monsters. Godzilla should have been the center of attention from the start, even if not shown explicitly. Instead they pushed him to the side until the last 40 minutes of the movie. I really cant stand this movie, to each their own.

Also with Jaws being a shark in the water and the Alien hiding in the space corridors it made sense to keep them hidden as both monsters were quite literally hidden from the characters in the films. It doesn't necessarily work when you cut away just as the 300 foot tall monster wrecks all out havoc in the open. It's a jerk off.

Which shows how deftly Edwards crafted this movie.

He took a known element and was still able to craft a tension-building movie around it.

Looking back after all of the dog shite sequels, Edward’s did him right in this one. I feel it was the perfect amount. His weight and gravitas was also perfect.

Now he’s swan diving off the Rock of Gibraltar and running 4.2 40s with Kong on his back
