I will do my best to update this as the week goes on.

We flew direct from DFW to Roatan, and per usual AA was delayed. Other than that the flight was uneventful.

Thankfully the the resort we are staying at ( The Kimpton Grand Roatan) had an express service so we were able to by pass the customs line. The lady said there were some that were waiting in that line since 12.30, we got in at 2.00. If you stay here it's worth the money, the customs line was long and they didn't have AC or fans.

The ride to the hotel was interesting. Our diver gave us a tour on the way to the resort.

The resort is the last one on West Bay and it close to the reef. It is spread out so we have had to walk a little bit. We at at the Sea Cat, mainly because it was convenient. We've been up since 4am, so we have done a whole lot. As it stands I have a few dives and a snorkel trip with the Mrs planned.

Flying/Sunset

Day 2

Mainly hung at the resort today relaxing. The water here is clear and calm.

This guy was floating up and down the beach selling pineapple drinks.

We are in West Bay so we walked to Argentinian Grill for dinner. It was about a 10 min walk down the beach.

2 beers, 2 waters, 2 empanadas, and the lobster dinner was $65.00. I think the rate now is $1 to 24 Lim.

Tomorrow is the 1st diving day, so I am really looking forward to that.

Is this Tabyana Beach on West Bay?
If so you are going to love it.
Nice beach with good snorkeling.

Today was the second day of diving. We were able to see a couple of turtles.

Here are a couple of pics walking down West Bay..

We took the hotel shuttle to West End for dinner tonight. The ride there and back was like a roller-coaster. It's not necessarily a place I would want to rent a car, but if you must do so at your own risk.

We went to Ginger's for dinner, and it lived up to the hype. This was some of the best seafood I've had on the island. The owner was also there, and she was super friendly and a native Texan.

Iron Shore Grill isa good and should be close to oyu. There's a little breakfast place if you walk up to the main road that we liked. If the guy still selling bsanana doughnuts walking down the beach each day? Damned good doughnuts.

if you want to go to a very cool beach that will have nobody on it check out this one camp bay beach

LINK

beautiful beach

maybe rent a car and check out some stuff on that end of the island. the garifuna people have a town not far from there named punta gorda. I enjoyed driving around there. on the way there is this huge pirate ship that someone built on the side of the road that makes for a nice stop.

kristis overlook is also on the way and is a nice stop fr a drink or food and a great view

also aj's mokeys and sloths is a good stop

On Wednesday we went out with Roatan 5 Stars Tours on their 3 stop snorkel tour. We went to Shipwreck, Starfish, & Blue Channel. It was about a 4hr tour total. I will say this is probably the best snorkel I've seen in years. The reefs were full of life and fish were everywhere. After snorkeling we went to the Roatan Chocolate Factory and some small shops and then the Roatan Rum Company.

For dinner we went to Kristie's in West Bay. She also has Kristie's Overlook as well. Again it was owned by a family from Texas. The fish was awesome and I highly recommend this place.

The next morning we took a water taxi to West End. It $5 per person if they have 4 ppl and $10 person for just 2 ppl. We told the captain we would wait since it was just 2, and he took us for $15 total. He also made sure he was back at the dock to take us back to West Bay. It was about a 10min boat ride, but it was nice way to see some more of the island.

We had breakfast at Sandy Buns. They make bread and pastries for a bunch of restaurants on the island. They are open for breakfast and lunch. The cinnamon roll was awesome and is a must have. The jalapeno biscuits was also really good too.

The last few days we just spent hanging at the resort. The snorkeling off the beach from resort was probably the best I've seen.

The airport is definitely small and you will need to pack your patience when you fly in and fly out. On the way out it took about 45min to 1hr to get through customs and security. There were two restaurants in the airport and food and AC were limited.

This was our 1st time to Central America, so we didn't really know what to expect. Overall it was a great time. I think this is a place we would definitely travel back too.
