Booking flights around a holiday. July 4th

Anyone here book flights pretty much as seen as they open? Typically I wait until 4 to 6 months out, but my concern is because it's a holiday prices will only increase.
Flying to Cancun and considering driving to Houston and flying United direct. It's 44,000 points round trip right now. Or should I wait at least until Southwest post there calendar through July 2025.
I have over 250,000 ultimate rewards, so United and Southwest are 1:1 with Sapphire Preferred

If you're using miles/points it is generally a static chart unless there is a devaluation of points. The only diffence currently would be peak vs off-peak mileage rates (if they apply).

My fear is economy booking up and only option being economy plus/business which is more points.
With southwest, their rates/points absolutely do fluctuate. The good thing with them is they will book you at the lower right and give your points back with no issues if the price drops

If that's the case there is no risk in booking it now, right?

With Southwest points bookings I book as early as possible and when they run sales you can check your dates. If it's cheaper, the system will refund you points.
For partner award bookings I book asap because of the limited partner award space. Example of this is when I use Qatar Avios to book Domestic US American Airlines Flights. Can get some excellent deals by this indirect booking technique.
