I just picked up two G22s, very good condition, 1 mag each ... $299.00 each from PSA.

They've had a run on a bunch of SIGs and Glock LEO trade-ins lately.

I used to shoot 40 S&W and SIG 357 back in the day but I sold both P229s some years ago. Thing is, I had so much ammo for both of them, along with 1000s of rounds of components for reloading .... at $299 I bought two. Both in 40 but I just ordered a SIG 357 barrel.

Ever score a decent Police trade in?

My Son scored an M&P in 45 ACP, brand spanking new, in Charleston yesterday. Has "Massachusetts State Police" etched on the frame. He was told it had something to do with a specs issue ... 2500 brand new M&Ps in 45 ACP were rejected because of grips or sights and some other minor thing. He paid $325 and it came with four mags.

There seems to be a bunch of trade-ins lately. PSA also had a bunch of P229s and P226s both in 9mm for $349.

Have you ever scored on a LEO trade-in?

Bought a Smith 4506 with 8 mags and had the adjustable night sights for $400 about 5 years ago. It was used by a Lafayette SO process server. Bet it didn’t have 100 rds put through it.

I'm thinking those may be fairly old surplus, 60s or early 70s, Virginia's Alcohol Beverage Control Board.

They're not tactical, not high caps, they're actual bird guns used by cops back in the 60s and 70s, maybe into the 80s at the latest.

Those are NRA Fair ... which is not good. $399 is too much for those pumps in that condition. And if the sample photo is "typical" they're in rough shape.

Atlantic will end up dropping those to $299 and even that ..... I dunno. If they're 60s and 70s era mfg they have the good parts.

So many depts are transitioning from irons to red dots/MOS systems for their sidearms, so there is kind of a glut of even really great, somewhat new pistols like gen 5 Glocks, etc.

Also a lot of old FSP Colts, Bushmasters, and S&Ws finay being traded in for slicker Mlok systems (many of which are not as well built like Black Rain, PSA, etc).

You routinely see Gen 5 Glocks in good condition for $390 now.

I’ve bought a couple LE trade ins over the years. One was a G22 Gen 3 that was like new, $299, from Aim Surplus. I picked up another G22 Gen 3, NOPD marked, from Gretna Gun for $299 ($399 but friend works there). Good condition minus holster wear.

Aim is one of the best places I’ve seen for LE trade-in firearms and gear. A quick look and found a G22 Gen 3 “little holster wear” and Gen 4 “clean condition” for $279. Good prices on some mags also, $10.

If you like the sweet-shooting S&W 3rd Gen pistols there are a couple good ones too. Lots of holsters, some slides, optics.

Glock 22 Gen 3 $279

Glock 22 Gen 4 $279

Glock 17 GEN2!!! $349

G22 Mags $9.95

Aim Surplus LE

Bought a Sig 226 back in the 90's, my favorite gun. It fit my hands and pointed perfectly. Had it stolen out of my truck. Yeah, I know. I live in a gated community and never expected someone to break my window to get a gun hidden in the console.

Replaced it with another Sig 226 trade in, it's not the same.

Those AIM deals are good deals. I've bought LEO trade ins from them before.

I bought a few P225s from CDNN when they had them a few years ago as well. Those were European surplus LEO trade ins.

Now, those G22 Gen 3s and Gen 4s from AIM at $279 vs the $299 I just paid for tge two I bought .... the AIMs are Good to Fair. These PSAs are Very Good, my two Gen 4s seem unfired. No wear at all and the sights glow bright.

Plus, I have no transfer fee picking them up from their flagship store 45 minutes from me.

PS ETA: Thanks for the link to the G22 surplus mags at $9.95. I just picked up 4 to go with the 2 that came with the pistols.

Don’t know if it was a score, but my favorite was an ithica riot gun from kings firearms. Somewhere around $250 after ffl.

Engraved LSP. No idea if it was our LSP.

That's a good score if it had the high cap 7 round tube.

I had an authentic Ithaca riot gun, that I sold as part of my Ithaca collection a few years back, that was actually used in the Ithaca prison riot in '71.

Ithaca 37s were widely circulated among LEOs all over the country from 1945-1985 as the finest LEO pump shotguns on the market. And they were. They were lightweight and ambi and reliable ... but they were expensive compared to 500s and 870s and the 7 rd tubes were rare ... only found on WWII trench guns and post WWII riot guns.

The beehive stock with the 7 rd tube is very desirable and a steal at $250 ... if that's what it is.

NYC PD, LAPD, SLED, SCHP, FBI, NMSP, and a few others MASS SP, GBI, .... I'm just not sure about Louisiana but I've got Walt Snyder's books, that he gave to me somewhere, I'll look it up tomorrow.

Good to hear.

Yes on extended tube. I have been calling it a corn cob stock, but beehive probably makes more sense.

Been meaning to get it parkerized. All of the finish is gone.

I have a P229 40 and my brother has a P226 in 9mm. Both very good condition. His has the DAK trigger which I would avoid in favor of a standard double action/single action

They had corn cob (horizontal latheing and verticle routing) and bee hive (strictly horizontal latheing) .... stocks.

Don't parkerize it .... that would destroy the value.

Chances are it has the old brown salt bath finish. But Cops were/are notorious for not taking care of their firearms. Unless they are RC or RDF or SWAT or something.

Don't use green pads or steel wool to remove pitting. Any of that destroys the value.

I had two DAK SAS P229s .... that's why I got rid of them, because of the damn DAK triggers. 8.2 and 8.4 pds of mush with a horribly long reset.

Beautiful pistols, especially with the walnut furniture, but I hated the triggers.

The two guys I sold them to, two brothers, love them. But this is kinda off topic since we're not talking LEO trade ins.

I'm not sure anyone issued the DAK triggers to their officers. I do know that New Mexico State Police had P229s but the were DA/SA in SIG 357. They've held onto those things like their lives depend on it. They switched over to P320s in 9mm but they have yet to dump those P229s with the SIG 357 pipes.

I need a Berreta 92fs.

I missed out years ago at a gun show. Dude had like 20 in a box for $125 each.

I was young and stupid and was looking for a polymer xD.

They looked I'm great shape too. At the price and having no knowledge I assumed they were just shitty.

Still kicking myself.
