The 2nd best team in the West comes home after a 2-1 road trip out west. The best power forward will play tonight as well after serving a one game suspension.

The Mavs are 18-12, 7th in the West (standings), and have won 16 of their last 21 games.

The Timberwolves are 6-24, beat Memphis 108-98 last night, and have won 2 of their last 3 after a double digit losing streak.

I expect the Mavs to win by double digits and for minutes to be shaved for the starters due to the margin.

Who ya got?

Mavs 102 Timberwolves 84

It would be biased ot think the Mavs have played better than the Lakers so far.

We're only 2 games back of San Antonio (2nd) right now and no team outside of Los Angeles has a margin of victory greater than 1 point per game than us.

Thus, we can attribute these slight gaps to early season variance. That is, I fully expect things to balance out once 82 games are completed barring significant injuries. The Mavs should have a top 2-3 record in the West and a top 2-3 margin of victory.

However, the Lakers right now are 7 games ahead of us and 6.5 or so points ahead of us as margin of victory plus 2-0 head to head. They've flat out been better than us thus far, although I expect this not to be the case in May and June.

If you're referring to Stephen Curry, I would sure as hell hope not. That guy belongs in Europe or the NBDL.

It concerns the Hornets. The Mavs are breathing down the Hornets necks and the Hornets schedule is very difficult over the next 10, while the Mavs is rather cushy. The Mavs may surpass the Hornets in the SW Division standings (and WC standings) and never look back.. and I imagine they will do this.

I understand it concerns the Hornets, but let's not kid ourselves here; the best team in the division is going to end up at the top. I think we know what team that is.

No reason not to, the Hornets have done nothing over the past month to prove that they are a better team than Dallas right now.

The Hornets next 5 games are v Washington, @ Portland, @ Denver, @ Los Angeles, and @ Portland.

It is very possible that the HOrnets go 2-3 in these games.

The Mavs next 5 games are v Minnesota, v Philly, @ Memphis v Clippers v New York.

5 lottery teams, 4 @ home, the Mavs should go 5-0.

This would put the Mavs at 23-12 and the Hornets at 20-12.
