Was his character way over acted or was that a creative decision by the actor or director for him to talk all unbelievable and over the top like?

Seriously I watched the first few seasons but cringed every time he was on the screen.

Because all the talk of Mad Men being one of the best shows ever is killed by Pete Campbell.

but then they introduce Lee Pryce and it's back on track.

First time I watched Mad Men, I hated Pete Campbell

Every other time I’ve watched mad men, he’s one of my favorite characters of the show

I don’t think he talks unbelievable or over the top really, he fits in well for the time period

I think y’all are confusing his character in a scrimp and the way he was acted/ creative direction given to him. I blame the actor not the writer.

I enjoy both the way he played that part, and the excellent character development / writing from the show.

one of the worst characters ever.

Small Dick Energy

imagine stepping out on Alison Brie with fricking Peggy. Season 1 Peggy too.

I mean, outside of maybe 1-2, pretty much none of Draper’s hook ups as beautiful as Betty.

the gap between Betty and any one of Don’s mistresses isn’t close to the gap between Peggy and Trudy.

I understand the hate for the character (it was intended to be hated), but don't get that Vincent Kartheiser acted over the top in any way. Pete was supposed to be a tries-too-hard guy from the start. For the first couple of seasons he was a boy in man's clothes, as intended.

Yea. It was a great character. I couldn't stand him the first time I watched the series. Then I grew to like him.

She came out fine. He becomes the big dog at Lear Jets. She gets to fly for free all over the world. Hell, after awhile, they probably got their own Lear Jet.
