Because everyone keeps saying he had the #4 defense last year. I don't want the #4 defense if it means only winning 5 games.

are you being serious?

what about the offense?

And you know what is interesting is the fact that Tenn hasn't won the SEC in any of the years listed (since 1998). And don't say he didn't have talent, in the years listed he had Deon Grant, Shaun Ellis, Parys Haralson, Jason Allen, Julian Battle, Albert Haynesworth, John Henderson, Jesse Mahelona, Jerod Mayo, Jonathan Wade and Gibril Wilson.

And he had good defenses. That what he did, coach the defense.

Not the offense, or special teams. He wasn't the head coach. He didnt make the important calls during a game.

He coached THE DEFENSE and their DEFENSE was good.

You have a horrible, horrible point going here. Makes ZERO sense.

I'm saying the SEC is diffrent now than it was then and his defenses havent faired too well against Meyer or Saban coached teams.

our top ranked defense hasnt faired well against Meyer. What's your point? FL has tore through everyone.

And sure the offenses are changing...DC's have to start adjusting.

Is there a "new age" DC out there that has the blueprint to stop these high powered offenses?

If there is, you may want to alert college football.

I'd rather have a veteran coach back there coming up with schemes to defend this than some green young DC that didnt even have great D's. Chavis spends more time in the film room than at home, so I think he will be able to keep with the times.

Both Utah and Boise St. have accomplished offenses and TCU (within the same talent-grade as them) did a great job of stopping them. And they did a respectable job against OU, (a whole "pay-grade" above TCU in talent) - forced'em to punt nine times but just gave up too many big plays.
