Are you sure they weren’t saying “elegy”?

Elegy vs. Eulogy

quote:

What to Know - An elegy is a poem that expresses sorrow or melancholy, often about someone who has died. A eulogy is usually a speech that praises the achievements and character of a person who has died, often as part of a funeral service.

Your right. Eulogy vs elegy. Was not familiar with elegy which is a somber or sad poem or statement about the deceased vs a poem or statement in praise of the deceased.

I honestly never paid attention to the book and thought the title was "eulogy" and had never even heard of elegy.

My bad.
