New album is very good. And I’m not a big fan of most studio Phish. I was pleasantly surprised. I need to listen a few more times but this may be their best in 25 years. These songs should be great launching pads for some ripping live jams.

I’ve tried for a while to like Phish, but I just can’t stand the way they write songs. They’re great players on their instruments, but without good songs that doesn’t do much for me.

Yea, their lyrics can be whimsical and goofy. Not traditional songwriting. They do have a lot of good songs but they also have some duds. A lot of their songs are written to be further developed in a live setting.
I know it’s been said a hundred times, but they really need to seen live. I had some friends drag me to a show. I knew almost nothing about them. My mind was blown and it was probably the best concert I’ve ever seen.
I like this new album. It captures their live vibe with some very well crafted songs and production. IMO it’s their best studio album yet.

Although, “divided sky” is right in my wheelhouse and I can listen to that one any time and enjoy it. Other tunes I like are “back on the train” and “Harry Hood”. The silly songs I can’t do regardless of the groove

Did they play the whole 90 minute show and you can’t distinguish if it’s one song or multiple?
