Anyone else watching these games? I am surprised by the star power on these teams this season. The Grand Prarie pitch is yielding nice scores (par ~166) and a whole bunch of sixes.

The broadcast coverage on Willow is top notch with the best announcers in the world. It's no IPL, but this is top class T-20 cricket!

They're doing interviews with fans between overs, and the game is growing rapidly here stateside - so great to see the beautiful game of cricket being embraced, especially by baseball fans.

P.S. - I'm half-way expecting to hear only crickets in response to this thead.

When did Texas change it's name from the Super Kings?

They didn't. I could not find an all-teams graphic with the SK logo. So, here it is. Go Super Kings!

It is a very complex sport - a true thinking man's game - but I'll give it a shot. Think baseball.

T-20 is the most abbreviated format of the game which takes about 3 hours.

Other formats include one day cricket and Test Cricket (4-5 days for one match, the real cricket).

***

Batting team:

Two batters. See ball. Hit ball. Score runs by running between two sets of wickets (pictured below) like bases.

Ball hit to the rope but bounces first (ground rule double) = 4 runs. Ball hit to the rope without bouncing (homerun) = 6 runs. 360 degree field (pictured below).

Batters bat until out (wickets broken, fly out, run out, or bowl that would have hit wickets hits batter's pads without contact to bat). Once the designated amount of balls are bowled (120 per team in T-20) or all 11 batters are out, teams switch and the other team bats.

***

Bowling team:

Throw ball and try to break wickets with the ball. Catch ball when popped up before it hits the ground. If ball is hit on the ground and batters try to score runs, throw ball back to teammates at the wickets to try to knock over the wicket before the batter returns "safe".

***

The goal is to score as many runs when you bat and stop the other team from scoring that many when they bat.

I’m already getting into cricket.

Can’t stand soccer and rugby really doesn’t interest me much. But cricket definitely keeps my attention.

Would love to see New Orleans get a team, or at least an exhibition soon.

Unlike soccer, I feel like it’s a sport the US could make an impact in globally, and it would be great to see it grow here.

Always been fascinated with this sport but have never been able to pick up how it actually works. Is there a "dummys" guide out there?

Am playing MLC season long fantasy with few friends so have to set up a lineup for every game and thus am getting invested in watching unlike last year when I did not.

Wish the game yesterday would not have been rained out, would been fun chasing 200 with way they started.

Here is the single best video I have seen of someone explaining cricket in a way that baseball fans in America can understand:

Jomboy has become a huge cricket fan and was even a commentator at some of the T20 World Cup matches held here in the US last month.

If you watch the two videos I posted above, you are good to go in terms of basics. You will start picking up nuances and in-game strategies along the way as you watch more.
