Okay. I posted this morn about a minor lower unit repair. Looks like I have even more issues ( Water in engine oil ). Engine has never given an issue but looks like now is the time. Mechanic at Suzuki dealer out of houma said he likely knows what the water/oil issue is and it’s minimum 3500 bucks.

I’m leaning towards ray Jackson out of denham for the repair but wanted to see if anyone else has any recommendations near BR. I’ve mentally come to terms with being boatless for the next month or so and just want good result at a fair price. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I was researching them on the hull truth a while back and it sounded like they had a pretty decent reputation

To the OP, who’s the mechanic in Houma and what did he think is wrong with it?

Terrebonne marine. Something about an internal tube busting and water going into oil. It’s Been a good engine. This is the first issue I’ve had that wasn’t self inflicted lol

I recommend either Outcast Marine or Landry’s Motors if you’re looking for someone along Hwy90. Both are in Des Allemands.

David Wade Marine in Baton Rouge is excellent as well.

I have a buddy who had the same issue with his. He had spent a weekend at a camp behind the Sulfur Mine pulling kids on a tube in the canals near Bayou Blue and surrounding marsh. All of that area is silted in from Ida. He also treated his boat like a mudboat during duck season, running real shallow water and hitting stuff. Pretty sure it's the culmination of all of that which led to his engine troubles. Worst part about it is this is the time of year when fishing gets really good near his house and now he won't be able to make those easy trips that are close to his house. I feel so bad for him...

Your friend is definitely the reason for his previous lower unit troubles. Sounds like a fun guy though. What lucky kids and sounds like you have a great friend who has led many great journeys in this boat.

Age of engine? Zuks have a shite ton of anodes that if not kept up with will allow the block to rot. Zuks don’t die from use, they rot out.

What HP? $3500 to rebuild and have an almost new motor isn't a horrible expense

It’s a 140. I’ve kept up with the anodes. I may have found the culprit

Bad water jacket due to corrosion is my bet.
