How does one “get in” the eyes of these schools? I know there are some very well versed on recruiting, etc here so hoping someone could help.
I see postings of “elite prospect” camps all the time, but how does one get invited?
Son is in 8th grade - pretty good player. No where near big time, D1, etc schools though, but if he progresses , I could see him on lower level.
I ask bc I think this is the only route to get him to college, as academics don’t really captivate him ( solid a/b/c student though). I know college isn’t the end all be all for future employment, but always nice to have that degree in any field if comparing a candidate with and without….

Go to lots of camps with scouts. I played naia baseball and had several offers from other naia schools and d3 schools. If he’s good enough they will find him

D3 doesn’t offer athletic scholarships.

Have a son going NAIA this year for baseball…..a lot of your D2, D3, and naia schools host prospect camps during
Summer and some during thanksgiving. We went to several camps and researched schools online that would be a good fit and set up visits and went from there

True but many will give academic scholarships or financial aid for athletes.

What you can do is go online and fine the d2, d3, and NAIA schools in your state and surround areas and follow them on twitter. Look up the coaches and send them a message with film. You will see camp dates and find players that are older that your son compared to and see what schools they go to or interest in for a guide. Lastly grades will be a part of the process d2 and NAIA might not can offer a full ride for they usually use their gap as a way to get them more money. Just ideally you want to be close to a 3.0 as you can. Lastly go camp at the school you interested in, they get you see you up person and make a connection.

That's not true. I'm a HS football coach and have three former players on current D3 rosters who all have athletic scholarships from those schools.
