Why are they playing NFL games in Europe?

Does anybody know why the saints had to play in Europe, what's that all about? Will they still have to in the future?

To sell merchandise, to create interest so that TV viewership will increase, and generally promote the NFL internationally.

that's not that big of a deal... buffalo is basically canada already
and I have no problem with games being played overseas... football's a great game, so let's let everyone enjoy it as much as we do.
