Anyone have experience purchasing a car with a “repurchase” title?

Been looking at some Tahoe's and there are two that have that designation. Apparently post Covid gm was buying back vehicles that they didn’t have parts to fix because of supply chain issues. They fix it when they get the part, then they sell it.

When you buy one from a dealer they give you a one year/12k mile warranty. Price is reduced by 8-12 thousand.

That sounds like something a car salesman would say instead of it was a lemon and we were forced by law to buy it back

Repurchase or reconstructed?

Mine has a reconstructed because it was previously totaled after a minor accident that did cosmetic damage only.

In my state that’s referred to as a “salvage title”. There’s nothing wrong with getting a vehicle with a salvage title, as long as you’re aware that you may run into issues with insurance and future resale. A friend of mine from the track has bought sports cars that have been totaled and have salvage titles. But he doesn’t tag or insure them… only trailers them to the track and uses them for track and racing days. If/when he sells them, he’s just clear to the purchaser about the blemished title.

I know that the supply chain issues post-Covid created a LOT of inventory issues for the manufacturers. But I wasn’t aware of this “repurchase” titling. Can someone expand on this?
