There’s no reason in 2024 for the NCAA to not use automated strike zone

I can’t fathom why baseball is so resistant to getting a significantly important part of the game correct.

Minor leagues use some form of it which I think should be implemented everywhere as the batter has the ability to challenge calls like that.

Some of these NCAA parks are glorified public parks, so yes there is a reason.

There’s no reason not to ensure ball/strike calls are 100% accurate when the technology exists and it doesn’t slow the game at all.

Minor league system is testing it out. Basically allowing 3 challenges(retain challenges if correct).
I think this will be the future and better way to do it. Allows some play with the zone while also keeping in check egregious calls lime we just saw.

I'm not sure how much it would cost to equip a ballpark with this technology, but you are asking a sport that loses money almost across the board to bankroll that and you'd have to do it in every park, most of which lose a lot of money in that sport.
Now if you are just talking about doing int for the playoffs, again I don't know the logistics and complications...or cost of doing that, but that may at least be reasonably conceivable.

All it takes is a trackman system, which are no longer expensive and used extensively even in high school.

Robo Umps.... Why not have them, its coming, just start it now. Man and machine will always be better than man alone in calling a strike zone with 90+ mph pitches. Simple science.

How accurate is a trackman system as relates to what they use in MLB.
Folks think these automated zones are 100% accurate and that just ain't true.

This should not be a thing

Another pointless comment from you….

Rapsodo is $3000. Most of the high schools around me have them.

And again how accurate is Rapsodo, many folks think these automated zones are 100% accurate, they are not.

I would venture a guess that it’s 99.9%, I’m sure there is test data somewhere

I don't think the MLB system even is that accurate. Lot's of articles on these systems and the flaws of even the best, none are that accurate.
