How about if the opposite actually happened?
Just by him being a liberal he was likely a thin guy who hasn't lifted a day in his life.
And he walked past a person supporting Trump who had lifted a ton. And that guy was walking dogs which scared him. The guy, being a Trump supporter, was likely better behaved and had his dogs come close so the scared liberal walk by.
