It's not. It's a small local bank. I used to work for them as an internal auditor. I know the woman that called me.
Maybe that's why they called me. I left $.50 in that account just to keep it open when I changed banks. She called me at like 8:20 this morning and told me that I'd just had a large deposit into my account.

Sounds like one of those scams where they give you a check, you deposit it in your account, they wipe out your account and you wind up paying a fee for depositing a bad check. Unless he is picking it up at a government office I'd take it to a check cashing place...they won't cash it unless its legit. I am a racist SOB but if the person who handed me the check in any way has typical characteristics of people from the middle east or south Asia I am going to be loathe to even take it to check cashing place....
