I’m a happily married 60 year old with 5 kids. We have close friends that are a 36 year old couple that are committed DINKs. I know I shouldn’t, but I do push them toward having kids upon occasion. They know where I stand, and love them dearly.
I hate that they have chosen to not have kids. There are so many having kids that aren’t good parents, that it’s discouraging seeing couples that I feel would be good parents and aren’t pursuing it.
I respect their decision but think they are missing out, but I’m not hung up on it. I just think it’s a symptom of our fricked up society.
I’ve got younger kids (21 year old twins) that are very close to them too, and I feel like they will be a big part in their lives too so they will probably be instrumental in theirs and other kids lives. Even though they aren’t having kids, I feel they will be influential to kids anyway.
