Charleston is awesome - I live within 2 hours and the kids and I go several times a year. When I was married, the ex and I stayed at 21 East Battery - great B&B that's central. That way you can walk to the old market, rainbow row, the OMG house, etc. Across the river is the USS Yorktown and USS Laffey, which is an excellent tour - and before anyone says anything about being pregnant and moving around, my ex was 8 months preggo when we climbed the Boston monument 
If you like BBQ, Bessinger's is about the best around. What type of food?
