This might be logical if it weren't literally the price for every finished good, every raw good, every product for businesses and consumers, located in every market big and small.

It's all sky high. Unless every business has colluded to gouge, the answer is inflation. Inflation has 1 cause. The government and mishandling the money supply.

This is simple supply and demand on both the money supply side and the consumer demand side. Target sees a softening of consumer spending, and that will drive prices back down.

They’re supposed to maximize profit for shareholders but this has been unreasonable.
