I'm not personally condemning people who choose to engage in abortion or homosexuality. That's their choice of their own free will, and I have no influence. It's between them and the Creator. I simply understand that their actions are already condemned.

I don’t condemn them either. Their salvation and eternal destiny is up to the creator. In the case of abortion though, the individuals in our society have to ask ourselves questions as to what we will allow. Is it okay for a mother to kill her 1 year old, her 1 month old or 1 day old baby because she chooses she doesn’t want it? Those cases are murder. So it is when talking about a 7, 8 or 9 month old unborn baby. It isn’t about judging or condemnation. It is a matter of protecting the life of those who can’t defend themselves.

This is one of the few very specific issues where I somewhat adopt a "slight shade of gray" stance, regardless of my spiritual, personal, ideological and sociopolitical beliefs.

Basically, what we have here in Oklahoma, is what I 100% believe to be a fair balance with separation of church and state. We do not allow abortions, and have even criminalized the act of performing abortions by anyone who would medically do so. However, there are exceptions for rape, incest, and medical reasons that imminently threaten the life of mother or unborn child.

My religion tells me that even these scenarios would be "part of His plan", but there are of course shades of gray to that, and th more moderate side of me says that if some 16 year old girl was abducted and sexually violated, well, she didn't ask for that child to be put in her. If some meth head daddy in Dixie's trailer park impregnates his half retarded already-inbred daughter and the chance of that baby coming out anywhere near functional is 0%, why force it? And if a fine working class couple plans for years to start a family, and then after finally accomplishing fertilization the doctors find that she has a rare condition that will certainly result in Mom's death if she carries to full term? There are situations where I feel it only fair to step back and show a willingness to assess individual situations.
