Shooter leaked this a few weeks ago, saying he's seen the script written by Sandler, then asked the podcaster interviewing him to edit that out. Seems it was much further along than just a script.

The biggest sin of filmmakers in recent years has been turning heroes into losers in order to create a unique (and often shitty) plot for an unnecessary sequel.

I don’t know, the character seems pretty ripe for a John Daly kind of treatment like someone mentioned. I think they could make that work pretty well. And it would fit in with the first movie easily.

ghostbusters afterlife. It was fantastic

Yeah, but that had another movie (Ghostbusters 2), several cartoons, and an aborted reboot before Afterlife.

Top Gun is the closest analogy.

Aside from Top Gun: Maverick, I'm having a hard time thinking of a sequel that far apart from the original that turned out well.

I can’t bring myself to do watch the most recent Dumb and Dumber flop. Had they done it in 98 I would have been the first in line at Tinseltown in West Monroe on opening night.

I’ll never understand waiting almost 30 years for a sequel.

It's hard to think of any good ones off the top of my head other than Top Gun Maverick.

The amount of money Netflix has bestowed upon Sandler for virtually zero return is just fascinating.
