Potential? It's a reality. I don't know about "decimate," but last I checked the furin cleavage site experiment conducted by Ralph Baric and Shi Zhengli and colleagues, along with the deadly medical countermeasures taken, has killed somewhere around 20+ million, though nobody honest is keeping public health stats so the real number is a mystery. As for bird flu, the closest we've come to a human to human version occurred in Ron Fouchier's lab in 2013.

Wake up son. Nature isn't the main threat. Stupid arrogant, if not malicious, men are. Have we learned nothing? Did all those people die for nothing? Are we really this stupid?
