But, how is a 12 year old offering to suck me off in front of the entire class not a problem? Basic child psych: punish behaviors you don't want repeated, and reward those things that you do. Nobody, including the teacher, did anything about the offer of the expected valedictorian from EBR.

I've hosted STEM experiments in Houston for 4/5 graders. The behavior of the class is 100% dependent on the teacher personality and anxiety. Same school, but one is paranoid and anxious (the a-hole kids run the show, and challenge me until I turn into elementary school a-hole mode,) the other knows I have control of the class (I get tested once and it is over), and we're in business. Year after year.

Classroom management is a specific class, at least at LSU. I was an adult before I graduated (only took ten years, yay!) but almost every teacher is non-confrontational to a fault. What most teachers don't get (including SPED) is that to not react, is a reaction of it's own, but that doesn't mean backing down. Students respond (of any age) when they know you're confident in your control of the subject and the class. They also know when you're blood in the water. Most teachers are not able to do this, because of many reasons I'm sure I'll end up getting into later.

Oh, James stole two matchbox cars, it's only $2. Nah, you stole, and you don't do that. Hold standards (as parents, which most don't.)

Have you taken stock of how smart people are in the last 20 years? I was told 30 years ago that sexual harassment was the quickest way to end my career, before the iPhone. Students of any age don't touch you, you don't touch them without exigent circumstances. No meetings/counseling sessions unless the door was open, etc.
