If they were totally in control, then their propaganda would be unnecessary. In a scenario where they're holding all the winning hands and we've gone over the cliff with respect to getting our republic back, none of what you're witnessing would be going down in the sheer panicked fashion that it is.
Instead, they have their entire multi-billion dollar media apparatus working overtime in a failing effort to win back the people and promise them that no matter what their lying eyes tell them, not only is the Emperor not naked, but that his clothes are faaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous.
