So if in 1942 a group took over and raised a German flag on US soil, would you argue that they were just supporting German citizens and not representing the Nazi party?
It’s weirder to me that you are letting this get in “your craw” when in wartime the countries military and ruling party always represent all the citizens of that country during the conflict.
If any of these protests ever chanted “frick Hamas!” or anything anti Hamas during their little sing alongs I might take your technicality more seriously, but it’s clear “free Palestine” and “support for Palestine” includes Hamas
